Act on IICSA - Write to your MP

We need your help!

We're asking the Government why they haven't implemented any of the recommendations from the final report of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse that was published in 2022.

By failing to act they are abandoning the 500,000 children a year that are at risk from childhood sexual abuse.

The Act on IICSA campaign is putting pressure on the Government to take action

One Key Ask

The final report put forward 20 recommendations to help safeguard children.  To date, none of these recommendations have been adopted.

To encourage action on the report's recommendations, we are currently focussing on one ask; establishing a Child Protection Authority (CPA)

This single, independent body will be dedicated to supporting and monitoring child protection. Right now, responsibility is spread across multiple Government departments (Education, Justice, and Home Office), creating gaps in communication, failure to implement effective policies and limited accountability.

A CPA would ensure child safeguarding is a priority while also working to carry out the other 19 recommendations.

You can help by writing to your MP

Could you support the Act on IICSA campaign by contacting your MP?

We need as many people as possible to write to their MP. To help get you started, take a look at our suggested letter, but please do customise it to ensure it is relevant to you, and explains in your own words why the campaign is important.

You can find out who your MP is and how to get in touch with them through They Work For You

When you customise your letter, make sure to include:

  • That you are one of their constituents
  • Why you support the campaign and why it matters to you
  • Why the recommendations need acting on to protect vulnerable children
  • Ask them to act and support the campaign

Please ask your MP to copy in  actoniicsa@thesurvivorstrust.org, so they can track support

Thank you.

Your support will help ensure we can take steps to protect children at risk from childhood sexual abuse
